Drive into Valtellina and the landscape explains the wine before you taste it: steep Rhaetian slopes, vineyard terraces held up by stone walls, and a kind of farming that only survives through stubborn patience. Bettini is part of that scenery—based in San Giacomo di Teglio, near Sondrio, in the heart of the Valgella production area.

The house marks its continuity clearly: established in 1881, counted among the valley’s oldest producers, and still carried as a family story shaped by both vineyard and cellar decisions made together.

Location

Bettini describes a territory defined by vertical dry-stone walls supporting terraced vines—an alpine geometry that gives the region its distinctive wine character and puts the focus on the elegance of “mountain Nebbiolo” (Nebbiolo / Chiavennasca).

The estate cultivates 15 hectares of family vineyards, rooted in the classic Valtellina landscape where every row feels earned.

Winemaking & Philosophy

The style is built on a steady balance: rigorous grape selection, modern vinification techniques, and aging choices that return to tradition—oak barrels and French barriques used to refine the wines in the winery’s older cellars.

From those foundations, the range follows the valley’s logic: fruit grown in the classical areas of Valtellina Superiore DOCG, vinified in well-equipped cellars, then shaped by time into Riserva and selection bottlings—and even extended into Metodo Classico sparkling wines (Brut Bianco and Brut Rosé), made with the same insistence on precision and discipline.
