Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva
A structured and elegant Tuscan red from the historic Montepulciano area of southern Tuscany, this Riserva expresses the classic character of Vino Nobile. Built primarily on Sangiovese (locally called Prugnolo Gentile), it combines power and refinement with firm tannins, vibrant acidity, and layered complexity developed through extended aging.
Winemaking process
Grapes are organically farmed and hand-harvested from hillside vineyards around Montepulciano. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with approximately 15–18 days of skin maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine then ages for about 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks, with additional aging in used barriques and bottle before release, creating depth and complexity typical of Riserva wines.
Tasting notes
The wine opens with aromas of ripe cherry, plum, and dark berries layered with floral hints of violet and subtle notes of spice, tobacco, and oak. On the palate it is broad and harmonious, with polished tannins and flavors of red fruit, pepper, and earthy undertones that lead to a long, balanced finish with fresh acidity.
Food pairings
This full-bodied Tuscan red pairs beautifully with hearty dishes and rich flavors. It complements braised beef, roasted lamb, wild game, and slow-cooked meat sauces, while its structure and acidity also match well with aged cheeses such as Pecorino or Parmigiano-Reggiano.
