Picolit
This wine is generally full-bodied, rich, and intensely aromatic, with balanced sweetness and vibrant acidity that prevents it from feeling heavy. Picolit wines are prized for their concentration, elegance, and long aging potential, often developing layered flavors and a refined texture over time.
Winemaking process
The wine is produced from carefully selected Picolit grapes grown in Friuli’s Colli Orientali del Friuli DOCG zone, an area with marl and sandstone soils and a mild climate that promotes slow, even ripening. Low yields and careful vinification help create the wine’s concentration, complexity, and longevity.
Tasting notes
On the nose, it typically shows aromas of ripe white fruit, tropical fruit, honey, and candied fruit with delicate floral notes. On the palate, the wine is smooth and luscious, offering rich fruit flavors, balanced sweetness, and a long, harmonious finish with remarkable depth.
Food pairings
Giorgio Colutta Picolit pairs best with desserts, pastries, fruit-based dishes, and aged cheeses. Its sweetness and concentration also make it suitable as a meditation wine enjoyed on its own after a meal.
