La Fortezza grows out of Torrecuso, a farming town on the eastern slopes of Monte Taburno, where work in the fields and attachment to the land remain a living inheritance. From that starting point, the estate takes an unmistakable form: a “fortress” carved into the volcanic rock of Taburno and wrapped in olive groves and vineyards, built to hold both tradition and the tools of a modern cellar.

Location

Torrecuso sits along the Taburno-Camposauro Regional Park, a landscape of vineyards, woods, and clearings shaped over time by patient agricultural labor. It’s a rugged, generous place—one that naturally favors vineyard life—where Mount Taburno’s presence defines the horizon and the pace of the seasons.

Winemaking & Philosophy

The winery itself is designed as part of the story: stone-clad and integrated into the landscape, with aging spaces marked by barrel vaults carved into tuff, and an underground caveau where steady temperature and humidity support long, quiet maturation.

In the vineyards, the identity leans on the area’s classic voices—Aglianico del Taburno and Falanghina del Taburno—rounded out by Greco, Fiano, Piedirosso, and Barbera. In the cellar, those grapes branch into multiple lines (including DOC/DOCG expressions and sparkling wines), with sparkling production spanning both Metodo Classico and Martinotti–Charmat.

Care for the land shows up in day-to-day choices: La Fortezza is part of the “Buona Pratica Agricola” project, and uses tools like fertigation to intervene only when truly necessary—aiming for quality fruit while keeping the work eco-compatible and sustainable.
