Domaine Chantepierre
View winesDomaine de Chantepierre is one of those southern Rhône names that feels inseparable from its place. It has been anchored in Tavel for more than three centuries, farmed by the Paly family since the 17th century, and today is carried by the next generation—Anne Luce Coulomb Paly and Christian Paly, who co-manage the estate as sister and brother.
The domaine’s footprint—65 hectares—gives it room to move across the local landscape, and that freedom shows up in the range: Tavel, Lirac, and Côtes du Rhône, in three colors, built from the region’s classic varieties and the distinct personality of each site.
Location
Chantepierre’s vineyards spread across a patchwork of southern Rhône terrains: sandy hillsides, limestone garrigue, clay plateaus, and zones marked by rolled pebbles—the kinds of soils that naturally push wines toward depth, warmth, and spice, while still leaving room for lift and freshness when handled with restraint.
Set within the wider story of Tavel and Lirac, this is a place shaped by long continuity: vines present since antiquity, a culture of protection and delimitation in the early 1900s, and a cooperative tradition that still defines the area’s backbone.
Winemaking & Philosophy
Chantepierre’s identity is built around breadth without losing clarity: three appellations, three colors, and a consistent focus on letting terroir do the speaking—each site lending a different accent to the finished wine.
And behind the bottles, the region’s modern structure matters too: the local cooperative culture—formalized with the founding of the Cave des Vignerons de Tavel in 1937—remains a defining part of how Tavel and Lirac present themselves today, balancing tradition with shared ambition for quality.
