Collemattoni takes its name from the farmhouse that became the estate’s mark over time—an old podere that the winery traces back to the end of the 17th century, perched on a hill on Montalcino’s southern side, a short distance from Sant’Angelo in Colle.
The Bucci family story surfaces later in the record—toward the end of the 1800s—and the estate is run today by Marcello Bucci, balancing modern capability with a style rooted in belonging to the place and respect for the land.

That respect shows up in practical choices as much as in words: a biomass heating system and solar panels cover about 80% of the winery’s electricity needs, and rainwater recovery lines are part of the estate infrastructure.

Location

Collemattoni works with about 11 hectares of vineyard land across the south-east and south-west of Montalcino, divided into five zones—a patchwork that gives the estate multiple exposures and elevations to shape its core Sangiovese expression.

The Collemattoni vineyard sits close to Sant’Angelo in Colle at 420m, wrapping the estate’s nucleus. Fontelontano, the oldest parcel (dating to 1984), lies at 380m between the hills of Sant’Angelo in Colle and Collemattoni, and becomes the source of their Brunello Riserva only in the best vintages.
From there, the map continues: Sesta faces Monte Amiata at 350m; Cava rests inside an alabaster quarry near Castelnuovo dell’Abate (stone tied locally to the Abbey of Sant’Antimo); and Orcia near Sant’Angelo Scalo stretches to roughly 4.5 hectares, also carrying Trebbiano and Canaiolo alongside Sangiovese.

Winemaking & Philosophy

The cellar is a deliberate contrast: 700 m², fully renovated in 2012, fitted with technology that allows control from fermentation through bottling—yet intentionally kept “very traditional.”
Harvest is entirely by hand, followed by selection (including a sorting table), fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel, and aging that continues underground in natural conditions—centered on Slavonian oak barrels and French oak tonneaux.

Even the names reinforce lineage. Adone is framed as a tribute to Adon Bucci, Marcello’s father, and to the beauty of Montalcino and its people—one more reminder that, here, the modern estate is still anchored in family continuity.
